PCB Designer Certification Preparation Duration: Two workshops, two and one half days each. The IPC Designers Council has established an education program that defines a core base of knowledge partitioned into three levels, PCB Design, Advanced PCB Design Parts 1 and 2. The content focuses on design principles within areas of concentration and not on a specific CAD tool. The ten areas of concentration include layout, electrical considerations, material properties, component requirements, assembly technology, board fabrication, physical board requirements, documentation, testing technology and reliability issues. The courses are very intensive and are intended to prepare the designer for the IPC Designers Council certification examination. A certification-testing program is in place to verify that the designer understands the associated body of knowledge. These workshops help prepare a designer for each of the levels, by an in depth review of the applicable study guide and respective industry standards.
